A little bit about jobs at Colorado State University

There are many opportunities at Colorado State University. The majority of the positions are offered through one of two departments, the Human Resources Employment office, or the Office of Equal Opportunity. Jobs posted by HRS are state jobs oriented towards the day to day maintenance of the university like maintenance, administrative, technology, and other positions. The Office of Equal Opportunity offers Administrative Professional and Academic Faculty positions. These positions include professors, instructors, and upper level administrators (vice presidents, deans, etc). Below you will find descriptions of the different positions that were written by the departments that post the positions. Feel free to contact them for further clarification or questions.

Academic Faculty

All personnel who carry academic rank (professor, associate professor, assistant professor, lecturer, instructor, faculty affiliate), and certain administrative officers. The hiring process for Academic Faculty positions is coordinated by the Office of Equal Opportunity (OEO), Room 101, Student Services Building, phone number (970) 491-5836.

Administrative Professional

Those individuals appointed by the Governing Board as officers of the Board, officers or directors of administrative departments, and all such professional assistants to these officials whose appointments are by Board action. Also included are the professional staff and assistants of the Experiment Station, Cooperative Extension Service, and the Colorado State Forest Service. Certain research positions directly related to the educational process also are included in this category. State Classified

Transfers/Reinstatements
The Human Resources Employment Office develops a weekly listing of all current State Classified vacancies for which transfers or reinstatements may be considered. These are defined below:

  • Transfers: Current State Classified employees in the same classification as the vacancy, or in another classification at the same pay grade or higher, meeting qualifications for the vacancy.
  • Reinstatements: Former State Classified employees, who have voluntarily left state classified employment, but were certified within the last five years in the same classification as the vacancy or in another classification at the same pay grade or higher, and meeting qualifications for the vacancy. After April 1, 1992, the five year restriction for reinstatement is eliminated.

The Transfer/Reinstatement Bulletin is updated weekly, typically by Thursday.

Promotional

Promotional opportunities are available to current Colorado State University State Classified employees and former employees who are currently on a Reemployment List (previously certified employee who was laid off for lack of work, lack of funds, or reorganization). Applicants need to complete a Job Application and whatever supplemental materials may be required. These materials are available at the Human Resource Employment Office. We cannot accept application materials via e-mail, and while faxed copies are acceptable, it is recommended that the originals be mailed under separate cover.

Open Competitive Vacancies

Colorado law requires that candidates for State Classified open-competitive positions be residents of the State of Colorado. For some positions, a polygraph, a background investigation, or a pre-employment physical may be required. Applications for Colorado State University are accepted only when a position is announced. Positions are advertised in the Sunday edition of the Fort Collins Coloradoan. Applicants need to complete a Job Application and whatever supplemental materials may be required. These materials are available at the Human Resource Employment Office. We cannot accept application materials via e-mail, and while faxed copies are acceptable, it is recommended that the originals be mailed under separate cover.

 

The annual Fire and Safety Update and University Drug/Alcohol Policy booklet informs the University Community about important procedures, policies, crime prevention programs and crime statistics.
