|Description of Work Unit||
The College of Natural Sciences strives for rigorous professionalism, recognized excellence, and intellectual vitality in its eight departments (Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Psychology, and Statistics) and ten centers. The College offers 12 undergraduate degree programs in addition to Master’s and Ph.D. programs in each department. Its culture is to embrace intellectual creativity at all levels, operating under the principles of openness, inclusiveness, and integrity.
The Assistant to the Dean is an executive-level position working directly for the Dean to manage the high-level administrative functions of the College of Natural Sciences Dean’s Office, including the Dean’s activities. This administrative professional must exercise excellent judgment and significant discretion, have outstanding communication and critical thinking skills, and excel at coordinating complex tasks with organization and attention to detail. The position is highly visible and therefore requires professionalism and an ability to successfully interact with a wide variety of constituents.
|Required Job Qualifications||
Bachelor’s degree plus four years of professional experience in an administrative position providing support for senior-level management OR eight years of professional experience in an administrative position providing support for senior-level management
Professional experience in higher education

Demonstrated ability to successfully interact and communicate with a wide range of people, including culturally diverse communities
Outstanding writing and editing skills
Experience analyzing and interpreting written information

Demonstrated ability to prioritize workload and complete projects on time while ensuring high-quality results

Strong desktop computing skills, including experience with all Microsoft Office products (especially Microsoft Outlook), Adobe Acrobat, PeopleAdmin Talent Management System, and Kuali Financial Systems
