Please limit your portfolio to 20 pages plus course evaluations. a) written reports of classroom observations and/or recent teaching evaluation b) syllabi representing the range of courses you are interested in teaching c) optional teaching philosophy d) one student paper (with comments) and one page of reflection. Applicants should demonstrate their knowledge of effective grading practices by providing one graded paper with comments; in no more than one page of reflection, the applicant should explain how formative and summative feedback in the sample paper address course goals. e) student course evaluations for one class Contact Information for References We require two letters of reference that speak to your teaching addressed to Dr. Louann Reid, Chair, Department of English. You will provide contact information for two references. Upon submission of your application materials, all of your references will be notified and asked to submit their letter of recommendation. For full consideration for Spring 2018, please submit applications by July 15, 2017. The 2017-18 instructor general pool will expire on December 31, 2017. Position Summary

The Department of English hires Instructors in Composition, Creative Writing, Linguistics, Literature, and Pedagogy from an applicant pool. Such instructors are hired for one semester or for the academic year. The teaching load for instructors is 1-4 sections each semester. Typically, instructors will teach College Composition, and a range of other composition and lower-division English classes. Instructors will be expected to meet departmental objectives for the courses they teach.

Requirements are an MA or MFA and college teaching experience in English Studies (literature, composition, etc.). PhD or equivalent is required for teaching advanced courses.
