The College of Business at Colorado State University is an AACSB accredited business school which enrolls more than 3,800 undergraduate students in six business concentrations and the business administration minor and is the largest undergraduate major on campus. In addition, the college offers five different MBA programs and three department-based graduate programs in the Master of Accountancy, the Master of Computer Information Systems, and the Master of Finance.
The Department of Finance and Real Estate is one of five departments in the College of Business. The Department has a strong record of research and teaching accomplishments, and expects faculty members to be active in the academic community. The Department currently offers undergraduate concentrations in finance (with options in corporate finance, investments and real estate), financial planning, and real estate, offers a master’s degree in finance, and participates in the other graduate programs of the College.
The Department currently has 13 tenure-track and 7 non-tenure track faculty. The Department serves approximately 2,300 undergraduate business majors, as well as approximately 2,000 undergraduate students enrolled in the business minor, 22 graduate students in the Master of Finance program, and about 1,000 M.B.A. students. The M.B.A. is offered in residence and via Colorado State University’s accredited distance learning programs. Colorado State University is a Carnegie Research Extensive Institution with a land grant mission serving approximately 27,000 graduate and undergraduate students.

Position Summary

The Department of Finance and Real Estate position of Special Appointment – Clinical Professor of Finance is a 9-month non-tenure track special appointment position with benefits and a renewable contract of one year.
The teaching load for this position is eight courses to be determined by the Department chair. In particular, this position addresses teaching needs in the areas of the undergraduate and graduate programs, including in the Business minor, and potentially in the College’s MBA programs. Evening and on-line teaching may be required. Clinical Professors are responsible for all aspects of course delivery, including syllabus production, lecturing, meeting with students, and assigning final grades. Some courses have multiple sections and several instructors/lecturers/professors, and thus instructors are required to coordinate syllabi and grading standards.
Additionally, candidates will be expected to participate in service activities.

Required Job Qualifications

Applicants must have formal training and experience with a terminal degree (Ph.D., DBA) degree in in finance, financial planning, or a closely related discipline. Applicants must also have a demonstrated ability or potential for quality teaching of multiple finance courses. Candidates must have the ability to contribute to departmental service activities in a collegial fashion (such as serving on departmental or college committees, advising student organizations, or serving on honors theses). Excellent written and oral communication skills, flexibility, and collegiality are essential. Ability to effectively coordinate with other faculty members and contribute to improving the content and delivery of the departmental courses is also required.

Preferred Job Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with the following characteristics: (1) potential for superior teaching, especially in financial planning or entrepreneurial finance courses; (2) ability to meet and maintain AACSB academic qualification criteria; (3) relevant professional certifications (such as the CFP or CFA) and professional experience.
