Description of Work Unit

The mission of the College of Business is to gather, develop and disseminate educational and research programs of excellence demanded by our rapidly changing, information-drive, global community. The College of Business at Colorado State University is an AACSB accredited business school which enrolls more than 4,000 undergraduate students in the Business Administration major (and its six concentrations) and the Business Administration and Real Estate Minors. This is the largest undergraduate major on campus. In addition, the College enrolls approximately 1,500 students in five different MBA programs, the Master of Accountancy, the Master of Computer Information Systems, and the MSBA in Financial Risk Management programs.

Position Summary

The College of Business seeks applications from individuals who have obtained a bachelor’s or master’s degree from Colorado State University within the past 24 months in Accounting, Computer Information Systems, Business Administration, Computer Science, or Journalism and Technical Communications and are interested in the Business Residency Program. Applications will be accepted from students who provide proof of graduation on or after August 2015.
The overall goal of the Business Residents program is to produce certified graduates who are highly competitive in the job market while benefiting the College of Business by playing a critical role in implementing its business strategy. The Business Resident provides professional level duties in support of the operations of the College of Business. This Administrative Professional special appointment position reports to a director level position. Business Residents are appointed for a one-year appointment term and may be renewed for a period not to exceed three years.
Business Residents serve in a professional capacity to support key constituents such as the Dean, Associate Deans, Department Heads, departmental/area personnel representatives, and students in the College of Business. This position possesses wide-ranging professional knowledge of business, computer science, or communications. The Business Resident must demonstrate the ability to work collegially and in cooperation with the departments and units across the College and the campus community. Required Job Qualifications

-Applicants must have obtained a bachelor’s or master’s degree from Colorado State University within the past 24 months.
-Degree must have been earned in Accounting, Computer Information Systems, Business Administration, Computer Science or Journalism and Technical Communications.
-Significant experience with using a report writing such as Tableau, Power BI, SQL Reports or similar tool to retrieve data from data stores and present that data in a report or dashboard. This experience need not be expert-level or package-specific however, strong familiarity and comfort with such capabilities is a must since creation of reports and dashboards using such tools is the majority of work associated with this position.

-Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, follow-through, and attention to detail required.
- Strong knowledge and some experience with Accounting.
- Strong MS Excel Skills.
-Experience with Cost Accounting (class or project or work experience)
- Intent to remain in position for 2 years or longer.

Preferred Job Qualifications

- Mastery of SQL, SQL Plus or other relational database SQL query language.
- Experience working with Salesforce
- Experience with report-writing package such as SalesForce reports, Crystal Reports, SSRS, etc.
- Experience with development of workflows.
-Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Real-world business experience.

-Learn and master SalesForce report writer and SalesForce Wave.
-Learn and understand business processes at CSU COB.
-Meet with users and COB IT staff to develop requirements for BI.
-Develop and test required BI solutions.
-Perform QA duties, as required, to assure accuracy of BI.
-Continuously work to improve data modeling capabilities.
-Develop effective dashboards.
-As required learn SalesForce workflows and assist IT staff members with development and of SalesForce workflows.

Duty/Responsibility

Business Residents must demonstrate the ability to work collegially and in cooperation with the departments and units across the College.
Operational Functions
-Work with Users and the IT Team to translate business and data questions into insightful, meaningful reports and dashboards addressing those questions. Use a variety of BI tools to create dashboards and reports answering business questions and exposing trends and key performance metrics. Where needed, use application tools and SQL to extract data for such reports and dashboards. Gain expert-level familiarity with CSU and College of Business data stores to be able to create meaningful and accurate reports and dashboards. Prepare lists for mass emails, as needed. The primary focus of this position is mastery and presentation of data to form insightful business intelligence to meet the needs of the organization.
-Continuously comply with security and IT best practice.
-Assist Accounting with preparation of cost analysis reports and dashboards.
-Rigorous quality control is essential and mandatory.
