Description of Work Unit

The Department of Computer Science at Colorado State University has over 750 undergraduate majors and 150 graduate students in masters and Ph.D. programs. The department has 20 tenure-track faculty with strong research programs in artificial intelligence, big data, bioinformatics, computer vision, human-computer interaction, networks, parallel and distributed computing, security, and software engineering. Position Summary

The Department of Computer Science at Colorado State University (CSU) solicits applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the level of assistant professor beginning fall 2018; exceptional candidates at the level of associate professor will also be considered. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in computer science or a related area and demonstrate potential for excellence in research, teaching, service, and research in data science and machine learning.

Required Job Qualifications

1. Ph.D. in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field by start of the appointment.

2. Applicant’s research expertise in a relevant area.

Preferred Job Qualifications

Research area in computational data science; for example, machine learning, big data, and other emerging areas.
Ability to contribute to the development and teaching of computational data science courses at all levels, in collaboration with data science partners in Statistics and Mathematics.

Applications of semifinalist candidates, including letters of reference, will be made available for review by the entire faculty of the Department of Computer Science.

Essential Duties
