Description of Work Unit

The CSU Department of Physics maintains a tradition of excellence in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Department postdoctoral research associates participate in research on three continents with programs in many of the most active and exciting areas of physics.
The HEP group at Colorado State University has leading roles on MicroBooNE and the Fermilab Short-Baseline Neutrino (SBN) program, as well as the DUNE (Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment), NOvA, and T2K long-baseline neutrino experiments. Prof. Mooney’s group is involved with several running and future LArTPC (liquid argon time projection chamber) accelerator neutrino experiments, including MicroBooNE, the SBN program, and DUNE. Prof. Mooney’s research is focused on detector physics, neutrino-argon cross section and neutrino oscillation measurements, precision LArTPC calibration, development of novel reconstruction techniques for LArTPC experiments, and detector development for future LArTPC accelerator neutrino experiments.

Position Summary

Prof. Mooney’s High-Energy Physics group in the Department of Physics at Colorado State University seeks applications for a postdoctoral research associate position in experimental neutrino physics. The position will involve the analysis of data collected by the MicroBooNE detector, development of precision calibration and reconstruction techniques for LArTPC experiments, and detector development and commissioning for DUNE and the SBN program.

Required Job Qualifications

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in physics or a related field and have research experience in experimental nuclear or high-energy physics.

Preferred Job Qualifications

Programming experience (C++ or other object-oriented languages) and experience with the analysis of high-energy physics experimental data would be an asset.
