The Department of Human Development and Family Studies is one of eight academic programs in the College of Health and Human Sciences. Colorado State University is Colorado’s land grant institution and holds the Doctoral/Research University – Extensive classification from the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education. The department houses resident and online undergraduate programs leading to a BS in Human Development and Family Studies, as well as a minor in gerontology interdisciplinary studies.

Position Summary

The Assistant Professor position within the department of Human Development and Family Studies in the College of Health and Human Sciences is a 9-month, full time, special appointment faculty position (non-tenure-track). Responsibilities include 95% effort in teaching and 5% effort in service. This instructor will teach 4-5 undergraduate courses/semester, as well as occasional summer teaching; courses will be taught in both RI and online formats and applicant must be available to teach on campus as needed.

Successful applicant will have a strong work ethic, experience in both online and face-to-face instruction, interest and evidence of ability to teach a broad array of course content in lifespan development and family studies , and be dedicated to the mission of the Department. The position requires a full-time physical presence at CSU.

Required Job Qualifications

Must have a PhD in Human Development and Family Studies or related field, such as Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, or Public Health by the start date; expertise in Lifespan Development, Family Studies ; evidence of excellent teaching ability in both online and face-to-face instruction; experience teaching online and on-campus in multicultural contexts and with diverse student groups; experience using technology to teach courses; and excellent communication skills

Preferred Job Qualifications

Experience with course development for both online courses and face-to-face instruction, experience with supporting undergraduate student retention and success, and can speak and write in Spanish.
